
Classic Beef Lasagna

A traditional lasagna recipe layered with rich beef sauce, creamy béchamel, and lasagna sheets. Perfect for a comforting dinner.
Ingredients
250 g Ground beef
6 whole Lasagna sheets
1 medium Onion
2 clove Garlic
1 medium Carrot
1 stalk Celery stalk
400 g Canned chopped tomatoes
2 tbsp Tomato paste
2 tbsp Olive oil
1 tsp Dried oregano
1 tsp Dried basil
1 tsp Salt
½ tsp Black pepper
30 g Butter
30 g Plain flour
300 ml Milk
50 g Parmesan cheese
100 g Mozzarella cheese
Preparation Steps
- 1.Finely chop the onion and garlic.
- 2.Grate the carrot.
- 3.Finely chop the celery stalk.
- 4.Grate the mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
- 5.Measure out 300ml milk, 30g butter, and 30g flour for making béchamel sauce.
- 6.Prepare lasagna sheets based on package instructions if pre-cooking is needed.
Instructions
- 1.Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic, sauté until softened.
- 2.Add grated carrot and chopped celery to the pan, cook for 3-4 minutes.
- 3.Increase heat slightly and add the ground beef; stir and cook until browned.
- 4.Stir in the tomato paste, canned tomatoes, dried oregano, and basil. Season with salt and black pepper. Lower the heat and let simmer for 15-20 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- 5.In a separate saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Gradually stir in flour to form a paste.
- 6.Slowly add milk, whisking continuously to avoid lumps. Cook and stir until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat and mix in grated parmesan cheese.
- 7.Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- 8.Spread a thin layer of beef sauce at the bottom of a baking dish. Place lasagna sheets on top.
- 9.Cover sheets with a layer of béchamel sauce followed by a layer of beef sauce. Sprinkle grated mozzarella cheese over the top.
- 10.Repeat the layering process until all ingredients are used, finishing with a top layer of béchamel and mozzarella.
- 11.Bake the lasagna in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes until golden and bubbling.
- 12.Allow lasagna to rest for 5 minutes before serving.
