A fusion of Philly cheesesteak and smash burgers served in warm taco shells, loaded with sautéed peppers, onions, and melted cheese.
Ingredients
300 g Ground beef
½ tsp Salt
¼ tsp Black pepper
1 tbsp Vegetable oil
1 medium Green bell pepper
1 medium Yellow onion
100 g Cheddar cheese
4 whole Soft taco shells
Preparation Steps
- 1.Wash the green bell pepper and slice it into thin strips, removing the seeds and stem.
- 2.Peel the yellow onion and slice it into thin strips.
- 3.Grate the cheddar cheese to use as a topping for the tacos.
- 4.Place the ground beef in a mixing bowl and season with the salt and black pepper, mixing to combine evenly.
- 5.Warm the taco shells as instructed on the packaging (either in a pan or microwave) to prepare them for assembly.
Instructions
- 1.Preheat a skillet over medium heat and add the vegetable oil, ensuring the surface is evenly coated.
- 2.Add the sliced green bell pepper and yellow onion to the skillet, sautéing them until softened and slightly caramelised, about 5-7 minutes. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
- 3.Increase the heat to medium-high and add the seasoned ground beef to the skillet in individual portions. Flatten each portion firmly with a spatula to create thin patties. Cook each patty for 2-3 minutes per side until browned and cooked through.
- 4.Reduce the heat to low and layer the grated cheddar cheese over the cooked beef patties, allowing it to melt slightly.
- 5.Assemble each taco by placing one cheesy beef patty into a heated taco shell, then topping with the sautéed peppers and onions.
- 6.Serve immediately while warm, ensuring the tacos are loaded with flavour.
