A fusion of Philly cheesesteak and smash burgers served in warm taco shells, loaded with sautéed peppers, onions, and melted cheese.

Ingredients

300 g Ground beef
½ tsp Salt
¼ tsp Black pepper
1 tbsp Vegetable oil
1 medium Green bell pepper
1 medium Yellow onion
100 g Cheddar cheese
4 whole Soft taco shells

Preparation Steps

  1. 1.Wash the green bell pepper and slice it into thin strips, removing the seeds and stem.
  2. 2.Peel the yellow onion and slice it into thin strips.
  3. 3.Grate the cheddar cheese to use as a topping for the tacos.
  4. 4.Place the ground beef in a mixing bowl and season with the salt and black pepper, mixing to combine evenly.
  5. 5.Warm the taco shells as instructed on the packaging (either in a pan or microwave) to prepare them for assembly.

Instructions

  1. 1.Preheat a skillet over medium heat and add the vegetable oil, ensuring the surface is evenly coated.
  2. 2.Add the sliced green bell pepper and yellow onion to the skillet, sautéing them until softened and slightly caramelised, about 5-7 minutes. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
  3. 3.Increase the heat to medium-high and add the seasoned ground beef to the skillet in individual portions. Flatten each portion firmly with a spatula to create thin patties. Cook each patty for 2-3 minutes per side until browned and cooked through.
  4. 4.Reduce the heat to low and layer the grated cheddar cheese over the cooked beef patties, allowing it to melt slightly.
  5. 5.Assemble each taco by placing one cheesy beef patty into a heated taco shell, then topping with the sautéed peppers and onions.
  6. 6.Serve immediately while warm, ensuring the tacos are loaded with flavour.
